Office of Attorney

Attorney’s Office is a separate organ of the Tuzla Canton and the Municipality itself, which, in accordance with the regulations employs certain measures to provide legal protection of property and property interests of the municipality or canton.

Attorney’s Office performs its function independently in accordance with the Constitution and under the laws and other general acts and regulations.

Cantonal Attorney performs legal protection of property and property interests of the canton, and Municipal Attorney provides legal protection of property and property interests of the Municipality.

Municipal Attorney performs duties of legal protection of property and property interests of municipalities and municipal authorities, as well as tasks related to protection of property and property interests of legal entities established by the municipality, if required by the act on legal entities establishment.

Attorney’s Office provides legal help to municipal authorities, agencies, institutions and legal entities established by the Municipality, if required by the act on their founding.

These bodies and legal entities are required to obtain a legal opinion of the Cantonal or Municipal Attorney before signing contracts related to:

  • purchase
  • exchange
  • lease
  • transfer to a temporary or permanent use of things,
     with or without a reimbursement
  • concession
  • building and pooling of resources for building
  • statutory and contractual forms of connecting companies
  • other contracts which imply obtaining of objects and material rights.

Municipal Attorney and his/her Deputy provide juristic defense in the Municipality. Cantonal Attorney his/her deputies are appointed and dismissed by a Cantonal President with the approval of Canton Assembly. Municipal Attorney and his deputies are appointed and dismissed by the Mayor with the approval of the Municipal Council.

A Public Attorney is appointed for 4 years and may be reappointed. A Deputy Attorney is appointed to serve for an unlimited mandate.

The funds necessary for the work of attorney are provided by a cantonal or municipal budget.
