Municipal Mayor Responsibilities

  • Represents the local government unit;
  • Issues documents within his jurisdiction;
  • Develops (and submits to the Municipal Council to adopt) the drafts, budget proposals, economic plans, development plans, investment programs, regional and town planning and other planning and regulatory documents related to the use and management of land, including zoning and the use of public land;
  • Recommends decisions and other general acts to the Council;
  • Implements the policy of the local government in accordance with the Council decisions, executes the budget of the local government, and ensures the implementation of decisions and other acts of the Council;
  • Enforces the laws and regulations which have been delegated to the local government;
  • Determines the structure of administrative and other services of the local governments;
  • Adopts an ordinance on the internal structure of the services of the local government;
  • Implements the cooperation of local governments with other municipalities, townships, and other international organizations in accordance with the decisions and conclusions of the Council and its working bodies;
  • Submits reports on the implementation of the policy of the local government and its activities to the Council;
  • The Mayor is responsible for the constitutionality and legality of acts adopted or proposed to the Council.
